The 800 Series speakers are used in music and movie sound production facilities such as London’s legendary Abbey Road studios and George Lucas’s Skywalker Sound. The development of the CT800 Series custom installation products allows Home Theatre enthusiasts to hear their favourite soundtracks exactly as the creators intended. The CT800 Series is designed to have the room built around it. Each installation will be entirely bespoke with Bowers & Wilkins experts and even an architect required to create a room worth of housing the finished product system. The technology involved in the speakers includes many of the innovations and ground-breaking developments that can be found in the flagship 800 Series of hi-fi speakers including the famous Kevlar ® midrange drivers. And where some of B&W’s most famous technological signatures initially proved impractical because of the need to place the unit inside a wall cavity, the company’s expert team of designers found the ways to incorporate them. This includes the NatilusTM tube-loaded tweeter, which has been replaced with a whirl of tightly-packed, smaller channels contained in a shallow cup, each of which absorbs a portion of the unwanted sound energy from the back of the diaphragm. The CT800 Series comprises four loudspeakers, each of which is designed to play a key role in the user’s ultimate Home Theatre system. First up is the CT8 LR speaker, a feat of engineering excellence that serves the front left and right channels. Technology derived from the 800 Series includes twin Rohacell® bass drivers, a woven Kevlar® midrange driver and a metal dome high frequency tweeter. |
